Geographical Locations
These ranges extend from near the mouth of river Densu, west of Accra in
a northeasterly direction across the Volta Region in Ghana and Republics
of Togo and Benin to the valley of the Niger River. So far they have an
average altitude of well over 400 metres above sea level but attains a
maximum altitude of about 872 metres at Mount Afadjato in Ghana and 1025
metres at Mount Agu in the Republic of Togo. Moreover, they are cut
through by the Volta River gorge at Akosombo.
Important towns including Akropong, Larteh, Somanya, Krobo Odumase,
Akosombo, Peki, Amedzope and Afadjato can be located either uphill or
downhill of the ranges.
